RIFLE SHOOTING,

WAIKARE CLUB. The Waikare Club shot the territorials for the McGovern Cup, which they held last year. They were again successful. It-is practically a contest between the long rifle and the short service rifle.

The weather was unfavourable, there being a high cold wind across the range and heavy .showers. The range for the competition is 200 yards.

Besides the McGovern and McGraughran Gups, Mr B. J. Powell has presented one for highest score during any one shoot at the short and long ranges competed for monthly. Mr Todd, of Huntly, has also presented the club with a cup fired for at all ranges, three shoots at short and three at long ranges. Mr Dunbar, of Huntly, has given a clock, competed for on two days, a handicap shoot, the handicaps to be on the McGovern shoot. The results were:— Territorials.
