MANY ATTRACTIONS. VARIOUS SPORTS FIXTURES. WEATHER NOT PROMISING. In the hope that perfect summe» weather will rule for the general holiday, Labour Day, on Monday, many sports fixtures have been arranged throughout the proviure. The weather outlook is far from promising, nut a change tomorrow would result in the ground drying up sufficiently for outdoor summer recreations the following day. Though the. official opening of the cricket season at Hamilton had to be postponed to-day on account of the weather, a couple of matches have been arranged for Monday, to take place at Seddon Park. Bowling tournaments will be proceeded with on most of the local greens and the majority of the tennis courts will he thrown open for play. For trotting enthusiasts the provincial attraction will he the second day’s meeting of the Auckland Trotting Club at Epsom. Keen interest is also centred on the Waikato Hunt's annual meet at Cambridge and a big following of race-goers from all parts may he looked for if weather conditions are suitable. Special trains have been arranged in connection with the two meetings. Another local fixture of considerable interest will be the South Auckland amateur boxing tournament at the Drill Hall on Monday evening. Some fast and spectacular bouts are expected, the arrangements being.in the hands of the Hamilton Boxing Association. All the local theatres have prepared holiday programmes likely to draw good public patronage. A fine day is bound to induce many Waikato motorists to join the motor tour over the new scenic route through the Urewera to Lake Waikaremoana organised by the Auckland Automobile Association to-morrow. The party will leave Rotorua at 7.30 to-morrow morning.

The railways anticipate a' busy period. Many holiday-makers left Frankton Junction, last night for the long week-end and a. larger exodus will take place to-day. Holiday excursion tickets have been issued, available on all lines from to-day until Monday, and for return- until November 22. A holiday train for Rotorua will leave Auckland at 12.30 p.m. to-morrow and will connect with I a special train leaving Frankton for the National Park. '
