“What ’do you know about smoking?” 'bawled the big man. The little man seated'next to him in the crowded Wellington tram-car repeated mildly that he had always heard smoking was injurious. “Quite," roared the big man, “and you've probably heard the moon is made of green cheese, but you don’t have to believe it, do you? The imported stuff, chock-full of nicotine poison, is injurious, of course. But smoke the toasted New Zealand and it won’t do you a ha-porth of harm. The toasting kills the nicotine, -see? Take my tip—learn to smoke, and make your miserable life happy, and begin with toasted ‘Ri.verhead.’ Very' mild. There’s three other toasted brands: ‘Navy Cut No. 3,’ ‘Cavendish,’ and ‘Cut Plug No. 10.’ You can fry them later, see! So long!” and he alighted. The little man seemed relieved. But lie's going to try ‘Riverhead.’ Hell like it, too. The four brands of toasted are the only ones manufactured. They are great favourites with all smokers, because they possess so much llatoi.r and sunli a delicious bouquet. 140
