The Weather. J Cold wintry conditions prevailed, during 'the week-end with high winds . and heavy rain from the south-east. During the week-end 1.32 in of rain I were recorded on the school guage. } » Church Service. I The Rev. C. W. Clark held the fortnightly Anglican service *in the district hall, on Sunday. Despite inclement weather there was a large \ congregation. j School Football. A seven-a-side football team from the school played against a team from the Cambridge school at Leamington 1
on Saturday. 'Though the local boys suffered defeat at the hands of their more experienced opponents they showed a keen spirit which was quite commendable. Social. Several ladies from this district paid a surprise visit to Mrs. McCann, who has recently taken up residence in Cambridge. A most enjoyable afternoon was spent in competition and games. Listening-in. Radio enthusiasts took full advantage of their sets to listen in to the report of the test match. In most cases the reception was astonishingly clear, and the wintry conditions outside were soon forgotten in the excitement of big football on the air. Personal. Miss M. Meeking has left to commence nursing at the Kawhia Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. G. Vosper have returned from a visit to Auckland.
