GLEN AFTON.
Heavy Rainfall. A heavy downfall of rain commenced on Friday evening and continued till Sunday night, the weather being particularly cold with a biting wind. Several slips occurred on the road to Glen Ai'toii, and some of the pipe culverts were carried away. Accidents. Mr R. Aston had the misfortune to slip and break his arm. Mr Aston is
on the staff of the Glen Afton Collieries. The Colliery. The new screens are now running very smoothly and on Friday put up a new record by screening 900 tons. The miners had a stop-work meet* ns on Wednesday, knocking off work ,at noon. I hepresentatives of the Miners’ Union and the Coal-Owners Association have had a conference in Auckland, dealing with the new agreement for the next three years, and have practically adhered to the old agreement, , which, has given general satisfaction. Personal. Mr Anderson, who had been on a visit to his aunt, Mrs Geo. Scott, has returned to his home, South Australia.
