WEDDING MARCH SCRATCHED. Wedding March was scratched at 12.25 p.m. for all engagements at the Great Northern meeting. NOTES FROM TE RAPA. SQUALLY WEATHER TO-DAY. CANDIDATES FOR ELLERSLIE. The weather was very squally at Te Rapa this morning for training operations. The Great Northern double jumping candidates, Star Comet and Pouri were worked on the flat. Daylight, who is in the big hurdles, was also exercised. The latter will be better suited now that the going is soft. Prior to the rain he had not done much serious work. It is quite likely that N. Syme will be his pilot at Ellers lie. Syme was to have ridden Wiltshire but as that horse has gone amiss he will be able to accept the ride on Daylight. Syme rode Daylight to victory over hurdles at Paeroa in MarchCornwall’s Candidate. Pompeius continues to please in his preparation for the Cornwall Handicap. C Goulsbro, the Taranaki horseman, who is making his head-quarters in Hamilton, will probably be the rider of Pompeius in the Cornwall Handicap. Rawhetq was given fast work on the flat with Pendavies this morning. The latter is not engaged on the opening day at Ellerslie but it is not improbable that he will be seen out with the jumpers later on at the meeting. Boomerday, who went amiss last week, has made a very quick recovery. He was worked this morning and if all continues well with him this member of J. F. Tutchen’s team will be raced over the country on the concluding day of the Auckland meeting. The Sun, who is now a member of A. Jackson’s stable, is to contest the second division of the Jervois Handicap at Ellerslie on Tuesday in which B Liddall will ride him. Unoco is another of the locally trained gallopers for the same race. Both can handle soft ground. For the Final DayLady’s Boy, who has been located at Te Rapa for some time, is hitting out .(Continued in next column.)

with some freedom since the tracks have lost their firmness. ' Lady’s Boy is to be raced on the concluding day of the Auckland meeting. The locally trained Ruling Chief, who won at the Taumarunui meeting has been purchased by Mr Clive Matthews from Messrs R. J. and H. D. Matthews. The work of extending the training facilities at Te Rapa is now under way. Circuit, a chain in width, is to be provided beyond the present inside grass track, which, when completed, will add markedly to the provisions for the nrenaration o£.horses.
