WELFARE LEAGUE.
HAMILTON BODY. APPOINTMENT OF OFFICER. The committee of the Waikato Social Welfare League met last evening, the Rev. Percy Paris, president, in the chair. The secretary and Mr L. fCowles, reporting on the result of their preliminary financial canvass, said that the support of the publio was behind the league, inasmuch as £IOO was given In cash and promises in one morning. .... , After full and careful discusion of ways and means it was agreed that the canvass should continue, and tnas the secretary be instructed o advertise for a welfare officer to work under the direction of the league, to co-operate with existing charitable, bodies, to organise relief, and to act as a probation officer to the Magistrate’s Court. -
