SECONDARY SCHOOLS.
MEETING OF ASSOCIATION. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Twenty-six delegates from all parts of New Zealand attended the annual meeting of the Secondary Schools’ Association in Wellington to-day. Mention was made of the great difficulty which would be experienced by boarding schools 'if Sir Thomas Sidey’s scheme to alter the summer holidays so that they would extend into February and March and to reduce, the Christmas and New Year vacation to a few days, was given effect to. . Delegates interviewed the assistant-director of education on the question and it was fully discussed. Among other questions discussed was that of leaving certificates, which was referred to the executive to deal with and to make definite representations with a view to helping the department in finding a solution of the problems at present surrounding the award of these certificates. The following officers were elected for the ensuing three years:—President, the Rev. H. K. Archdall (Auckland); vice-president, Father s Gilbert (Christchurch); secretary and treasurer, Mr Noel Gibson (Auckland); executive, Miss McColi (Marton), Miss Sandford (Auckland), the Rev. C. FPearce (Wanganui), Brother Benignus (Auckland), Mr Loton (Te Aute), Mr A. K. Anderson (Christchurch). The Rev. E. C. Crosse, of Christchurch, and Brother Benignus were appointed to represent the association oq the university entrance hoard. .-
