CAMBRIDGE BOARD. THE ANNUAL MEETING. PROFIT OF £768. At the annual meeting of the Cambridge Electric Power Board those present werq Messrs M. Wells (chairman), T, A, Hicks, F. Lye, J. W. Garland, J. S. Fisher, J. T. Entwisle, W. Moore, F. M. Oliver (secretary) and H. G. Oaten (engineer). The chairman submitted a comprehensive report on the year’s working, which revealed that the year had been a most profitable one. , After providing for the necessary committments and reserve fund the year closed with a net profit of £768 6s lOd. The total revenue amounted to £22078 12s lOd, showing an increase on last year’s return of £1,300. This was considered satisfactory in view of the fact that the substantial reduction of ljd per unite was made in the lighting rates. A pleasing feature was the fact that the expenditure was kept very close to the estimates. The depreciation and reserve funds amount to £1,537. The trading account showed a net profit of £316. Appointment of Chairman. Mr J. W. Garland, in moving that Mr M. Wells be re-appointed chairman for the ensuing year, commented on the splendid service given the board by Mr Wells during his many years of office. Mr T. A. Hicks seconded the motion, and it was supported by the other members of the board and carried. Mr Wells stated that his duties had been considerably lightened by the splendid backing he had received from the members. Mr W. Harbutt appointed deputy-chairman. Ordinary Meeting. The business of the ordinary meeting was then proceeded with. Six power boards in various parts of New Zealand wrote seeking information regarding the board’s power charges. The secretary was instructed to supply the information asked. Mr T. S. Cray wrote asking the board to refund £1 6s Bd, being discount which he had forfeited for the reason that he had not paid his account on the due date, owing to pressure of business. It was decided to inform Mr Cray that the board could not make the refund. Light for Memorial. The board unanimously agreed to comply with a request from the Cambridge Borough Council to supply power for a spotlight erected at the Town Hall to illuminate the cenotaph at night. The Thames Valley Power Board wrote giving permission to the Cambridge Board to supply certain consumers in its area with lighting and power. The chairman reported the resignation of the senior clerk (Mrs O’Neill), who was leaving the district. The resignation was accepted wth regret, and Mrs O’Neill was granted a month’s leave on full pay. It was decided to advertise the position of a male clerk to fill the vacancy.
