DIEGEL BEATS MITCHELL LONDON, May 17. In a golf match for £SOO at Moor Park Leo Diegel (America) beat Abe Mitchell over 36 holes by 1 up. Neither player was at his best in the first half. They showed a vast improvement in the second round. Mitchell was 4 down at the 10th. hole. The American seemed to have the match won, when Mitchell, by a superb display, won four of the next seven holes "and squared the match, with one hole to play-
The excitement was intense when at the short 18th. Mitchell placed his tee shot seven feet from the flag. Diegel’s ball lay 35 feet away, but the unexpected happened. Diegel holed his putt from the other side of the green, while Mitchell missed his putt.
