When you have completed a knitted garment crochet the sides, shoulders, etc., together. Time is saved and the garment looks neater than if the parts were sewn in the usual way.
When pickling onions, instead of leaving them salted overnight, allow them to remain for three nights, and the onions will take the pickle twice as quickly.
When making orange or lemon marmalade, soak the fruit whole for the required length of time. The peel thus becomes soft and cuts more easily.
When short of hanging space, bore holes in the centre of some wooden coal-hangers and screw in some cuphooks. On these skirts can be hung. The-cup-hooks can be unscrewed for packing.
The white of an egg beaten to a stiff froth and briskly add-ed to a glass of cold l'resh milk, is an excellent pick-me-up, especially for sufferers from indigestion.
