VALEDICTORY

FAREWELL AT ROTOTUNA. POPULAR RESIDENTS HONOURED. The Rototuna Church Hall was filled to overflowing when the members and adherents of the Hamilton East Presbyterian Parish assembled to wish Mr and Mrs T. H. Henderson and Miss Henderson “God speed” on their visit to the Old Land.

The Rev. J. Haslop controlled proceedings, and the accompaniments were played by the Misses Milne and Clements. Solos rendered by Mrs Aitken, Miss Roberts and Mr Milton West were much apreciated, as also were piano solo by Miss K. Clements and violin selections by Mr 11. Milne, w'hile Mrs A. Henry delighted her audience with tw'O elocutionary items. Keen interest was evinced in the competitions and one and all enjoyed a pleasant evening. The Rev. A. 0. Harris, speaking on behalf of the Methodist portion of the community, spoke of the sterling qualities of the guests. The Rev. J. Haslop rejoiced that he had been privileged to associate with Mr, Mrs and Miss Henderson. Both speakers wished the guests “bon voyage" and a safe return. The two ladies were the recipients of bouquets .presented to them by Dorothy Clements and Dorothy Osborne.

The Rev. J. Haslop asked Mr and Mers Henderson to accept a leather suit-case and Miss Henderson a fountain pen, with the best wishes of their many friends in the parish. On rising to reply, Mr Henderson received an ovation, and was also accorded musical honours. He thanked ttie speakers for their kind words. He appreciated the warm and kindly sentiments and would always do all in his power for the advancement of the Waikato.

A dainty supper was partaken of, and the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and “God Be With You" closed a very happy evening.
