Admiral Byrd passed through Hamilton last evening on his way to Wellington. lie was entertained at dinner at the Hamilton Hotel by Ilis Worship the Mayor, Mr J. R. Row.

Mr L. M. Addison, of Sydney, is at the Hamilton Hotel.

Mr Arthur J oil has returned to Hamilton after spending a long period in East Africa.

Mr. 11. Blackwood, of the staff of the State Fire Ufiice, Hamilton, is visiting Dunedin for his annual vacation.

The Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, has shown his interest in the work of the British and Foreign Bible Society by extending his patronage to the New Zealand branch of the organisation.

Two New Zealand scientists, Messrs. 11. A. Falla and R. G. Simmers, who were attached to Sir Douglas Mawson’s expedition in the Antarctic, returned to Auckland by the Ulimaroa yesterday. Mr. Falla is a geologist and Mr. Simmers a meteorologist.

Messrs M. A. Carr, P. West (Wellington), A. W. Giilies, M. J. Knight, T. Sheehy, E- Neil, 11. NaLLrass (Auckland), R. S. Morrison (Wangaiui), J. ■Martin (Martinborough), 11. Dalzeil (Masterton), and E. Turner (Hastings) are at Ihe Hamilton Hotel.

Lord Waleran, who was assistant private secretary to Sir Charles Fergussoti during the latter portion of his term as Governor-General of New Zealand, was a passenger by the Maunganui which left Wellington for Sydney. Since Ihe deputation of Sir Charles, Lord Waleran had been visiting friends in the South Island.
