(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) STRATFORD, Monday

Alex. J. Dowling and Allan E. Pearce, were admitted at the Court this morning to twelve months’ probation on three charges of obtaining credit by fraud, and one of conversion of a car.

They met at Te Kuiti, and travelled to Marton, and then to Wanganui, where they left without paying their board at the hotel. They left Hawera without paying their board, in a converted car, which was left at Elt-ham. They were arrested in Stratford on Saturday while staying at the County, a leading hotel. Dowling, who is a married man, said lie had sent £4 per week to his wife all the time he was away from home.
