OBITUARY.
AN EX-CHAMPION SCULLER. L'nitcrl Press Assn.—Elec. Tel.—Copyright. (Received April 14, 12-5 p.m.) LONDON, April 13. Tlie death is announced of W. A. (Ernest) Barry, the ex-English champion sculler, and father of Bert Barry. The deceased was born in 1882. He resigned the championship in 1021, after holding it against all-comers from 1912 with the' exception of the year 1919, when A. Lelton beat him over the Putney to Mortlake course, a decision Barry reversed in 1920 on the Parramatta. Barry won the Putney Coat and Badge in 1900, and Doggctt’s Coat and Badge in 1903. After his retirement from sculling he resided at Twickenham.
