Lord Bledisloe has been elected patron of the Auckland Orphans’ Club.
Mr J. Pirrit, of Kiwitahi, has left on a visit to Australia.
Mr J. F. Mitchell, of Liverpool, England, is at the Hamilton Hotel.
Mr G. A. Jeffreys, secretary to the Prime Minister, Sir J. G. Ward, was a visitor to Hamilton to-day.
Messrs C. F. Hartland (Waipukurau), R. Goldstone, Hamilton (Auckland) and Shires (Wanganui), are at the Hamilton Hotel.
Mr Alexander Watson, who will give a recital in Hamilton to-morrow night, is examiner in elocution for the Trinity College, London.
At a congregational meeting of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Levin, it was unanimously decided to extend a call to Rev. John S. Pate, of Oreti, Southland.
Me H. Thomas, of Sydney, will judge the elocution section of the Wellington Competitions in August. The other judges will he : —Vocal music, Mr Barry Coney, nf Auckland; violin, Mr Frank Crowther; piano, Mr Ernest Jenner.
