NEW ZEALAND AIRMEN

VISIT TO AUCKLAND. NO CIVIC RECEPTION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Thursday. So far no civic reception has been arranged in Auckland for Flying Officers Piper and Kay (who are due here from Sydney on Tuesday), the first New Zealand-born airmen to fly from England to Australia. The Mayor was approached by a deputation from Mangere, Kay’s home district, but Mr Baildon refused the request for a civic reception. “This is becoming now an everyday occurrence, and I really can’t see the necessity for it,” he said.
