ON ELLERSLIE TRACKS.

1 HORSES FOR WAIKATO. THE EFFORTS THIS MORNING. SEVERAL USEFUL GALLOPS. (By Telegraph—Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Thursday. With the exception of some showers during the breakfast interval, the weather was fine for training work at Ellerslie this morning. All' the fast work was done on the course proper with the. poles about 50 feet out from the rails. It provided good going. On the course proper, Gold Money and King Emerald were first out and completed six furlongs in 1.21 1-5 with the former a shade in front at . the finish. Kaiwanga and Eager Rose jumped off together at the mile post and completed the distance in 1.50, the last six furlongs in 1.24 4-5. Both did their work well, without being fullyextended.

Land Measure and Avon Court ran home from the five furlong post in 1.6 2-5 s and Ruling King traversed a furlong further in 1.24 1-5. Hampton Park was timed to run five furlongs in 1.7 1-5, doing it nicely. Cynthia N did 1 serviceable, work, running the last six furlongs in 1.23. £ Storey Cup Pair. Corinax and Gemlight, a Storey Cup pair, were companions over 'a round, running the distance in 2.12 1-5. They were together at the finish and both shaped well. ■ Grand Spirit appeared to be going better than Foot Rule with Silene several lengths away at the end of half a mile in 51.4-ss. Dark Prince finished up a mile task in 1.52 4-5 and Bright Land covered a similar distance in 1.52 3-5- He kent fast over the first part but did not finish on as strongly. Jaeldy Karo and Wild Countrysprinted four furlongs. The former got away badly- hut was doing best at the finish, being right up alongside his companion. His lime was 51s and Wild Country took 5245. After breakfast Operatic ran four furlongs in 53 4-5, Roman Pearl a similar journey in 53s while Gay Cockade took 53 l-ss. To Contest Main Event. Sir Archie and Spring Abbey were on terms at the finish of 6 furlongs in 1-21. Sir Archie will contest the Storey Memorial Cup on Saturday. Karangapai i was doing better than Arabesque at the finish of five furlongs in 1.8 3-5. Rafflight, who got the better of Tremetus when the pair jumped off at the four furlong peg was doing best at the finish, covering the distance in 52 4-ss. Several Jumping Tasks. Kamehameha (McNeil) and Kauri Park (E. Garrett) cleared four schooling hurdles in good style. Quincoma (Craddock) and Mountain Guide (Sharkey) gave’ a pleasing display over a couple of schooling hurdles and Soami- (Olive) accomplished a similar task without takeOdin (Sharkey) and Freyja (Stanway) were sent over the steeplechase fences on Die flat, both jumping excellently. They trotted round and repeated the performance, Freyja hitting the first fence of the double and coming to grief. She over-reached and cut herself badly- on one of her forelegs. Odin completed his work by jumping the stonewall and his display- on both occasions w-as really good. Marita (Burgess), Airtight (K. Dulieu) and. Salamander (C. McNeil), started off at the sodwall for a round over the steeplechase fences including the hill. When they reached the double Airtight after jumping the first fence ran off at the second but continued on. Marita showed the way up the hill where Salamander came to grief at the first fenc on top and Airtight baulked at the second. Airtight was taken back and after jumping the obstacle continued on. Marita finished alone and gave a good, safe display of jumping. Salamander was remounted and jumped the remaining fences until he reached the final obstacle, the stonewall where he fell again. His rider, C. McNeil, had his collarbone broken.
