A. & P. ASSOCIATION.
COMMITTEE MEETS. SHOWGROUND PLAYING AREA. HALF-FEE MEMBERSHIP SCHEME. The general committee of the Waikato A. and P. Association met this' morning, the senior vice-president, 1 Mr T. Bellamy, presiding In the absence of Mr T. Martin. Election of Committees, The principal Business was the election of the executive and supplementary committees. The following were elected:—Executive committee, Messrs W. Newell, F. B. Seddon, W. G. Park, N. Reid, P. Dingle, R. A. Hinton, A. Livingstone, W. McKee, R. Ranstead, A- K. Alexander, W. Miers, N. K. Taylor; supplementary committee, Messrs W. S. Phillips (Te Mata), G. Irvine (Morrinsville), G. Buchanan (Paeroa), R. Jones (Te Kowhai), S. B- Grant (Papatoetoe), R. Norrish (Kaipaki), W. G. Kay (Parawera), -J. Law (Tauhei), A. Johns (Eureka), J. B. Grant (Taupiri), P. McNaughton (Morrinsville), G. M. Watt (Cambridge), The dates for this year's show were set as Wednesday and Thursday, November 12 and 13. A letter was read from the president of the Royal Show, congratulating the Waikato Association on the fine display of lambs at the recent show. Reference was made t,o the group system of showing, which was considered to be by far the most suitable. Rugby Football Grounds. A request from the Hamilton Rugby Union, for the use of three grounds on the showgrounds at the same rates as those of last year, brought forth a protest from Mr Newell. He said that although he did not wish to hinder any sports body, lie thought it advisable that a higher rent should be charged for the grounds, in view of the damage done to association property by footballers. The players had received several warnings, but the damage was done just the same, and he considered that the rent should be increased to £25. The meeting viewed the suggestion as being advisable, and it was adopted. Membership Fees. The question - of membership fees was raised by Mr McNicol. He mentioned that it had been recommended that all boys of 18 years of age and under be admitted to membership of the association on the payment of half-fees, but he considered that the association could go a step further and include in this concesson members of kindred bodies. Mr Newell spoke on similar lines to this. He thought that the membership would be considerably increased if this course were adopted. After some discussion it was cided that this matter should be dealt with by the general committee at a special meeting, to be called at a later date.
