MAGAZINES FOR THE HOME. New ideas and designs In needlework which can be made from odds and ends of material are fully described in the Aly Home magazine. These novelties, although so simple and inexpensive, can be made up to have a very handsome and attractive appearance, at the same time forming an artistic background for the furnishings. For those interested in interior decorating, four fine colour plates depicting charming colour schemes for draperies and furniture are features of the current issue of this magazine. An excellent article, written in conjunction with these pictures, will also be found to contain many helpful suggestions on the subject. It is a very human weakness to enjoy being told about ourselves, and the new character reading game described in the February number of Woman and Home will prove to be full of diversion for everyone. It is all so perfectly easy but at the same time covers an amazingly true character study. A variety of interesting articles containing helpful suggestions make the Woman and Home magazine a journal of interest to all women, and a copy of the latest issue should be secured immediately. Weldon’s Bazaar of Children’s Fashions, Ala'rch number, contains free patterns girl’s dress 5-6 years, girl’s day frock 5-6 years, big girl s school frock 13-14 years. Fashions include coals, dresses for school and general wear, parties and school concerts, boys’ suits, underwear, etc. Articles: “Happier Baby Bureau,” conducted by Nurse Vincent; answers to matters on baby questions; careers for children, children’s birthday club, etc. Weldon’s Ladies’ Journal, March number, 1930, will contain free, pattern of’day dress and tuck-in blouse and new skirt, and also a gratis transfer design. Supplement of Paris fashions in colour and gravure. Fashions include evening gowns, dance frocks, coatees, tailored suits and coats, lace-trimmed. lingerie, etc. Special articles: “Paris Calling,” by their Paris correspondent; “This Business of Beauty,” by Joan Kennedy; “Home Spun Happiness,” by Julia Cairns; a story entitled “The Lady from the Provinces,” by E. AI. Delafleld; cookery, needlework, etc.
