TE KOWHAI.
Disastrous Harvest Season. Thr, renewed wet weather of last week checked haymaking for ti.e third time, and several crops in the district are now useless and all are more or less damaged. The making of ensilage is being resorted to in some cases, but the crops arc now so mature 'that this alternative cannot avert loss.
Bereavement. A large number of ex-soldiers and neighbours attended the funeral of Mr James Goodall, who had been a farmer in the district for six years. Mr Goodall leaves a widow and'one little girl, to whom general sympathy is extended In their loss. The Holidays'. The holidays passed off quietly, and the absenoe of the annual sports meeting on Boxing Day tended to slow things down. The respite from the worry and work connected with the fixture was appreciated by the local farmers, who have troubles enough with their hay crops.
