CARE OF THE HAIR.

Cleanliness is essential—cleanliness of your hair and cleanliness of your hair brushes. The brushes should be washed at least once in ten days in a weak solution of thymol or carbolic. Never use another person’s brush or comb. Infection or dandruff can be spread in this way. Dandruff is a real menace to a healthy head ,of hair, and usually is due to anaemia, indigestion or acid in the blood. There are, however, other causes which are not so serious, and these can be kept at bay with a little care. Be careful to use a pure shampoo, and, after shampooing, rinse the hair in at least three waters. If your scalp is inclined to be dry, massage thoroughly with the tips of the fingers dipped in warm olive oil. Leave on for two hours or longer, if possible, then shampoo- off with green'soft soap dissolved in hot water to form a lather. Treat the hair this way once a week until the scalp looks healthy; then continue to massage at regular intervals with equal parts of olive oil and spirits of rosemary. To remove greasy dandruff, wash the hair with spirit soap once a week and massage the scalp twice a weelj with a tonic of bay rum and cantharides. It constantly troubled with dandrufr. remember that to keep the scalp clean is absolutely essential.
