R. T. REID CUP. COMPLETION OF GAMES. SPELL FOR HOLIDAYS. The final Reid Cup cricket matches for this year were concluded last evening. The matches will be continued on Monday, January 13. P. and T. v. Railway. In the Post and Telegraph v. Railway match, Post and Telegraph were dismissed for 59 in their first innings, and Railway replied with 97 (Snowling 26, Dougherty 33). Post and Telegraph in their second venture compiled 127 (Donaldson 4‘2, Klrick 21, Turner 21, Whiting 15). Railway had a three-point win on the first innings. Timber Workers v. Police. Timber Workers defeated the Police by 24 runs, gaining a four-point win. Police batted first, and made 58 (McGrath 25). Timber Workers replied with 79 (Clough 23. Frodsham 19). Thompson took five wickets for 22 runs. Batting a second time Police compiled 85 (Thorpe 24, Saunders 22). Timber, Workers registered 88 in their second venture (McCracken 40). Borough v. Times. In the Borough Council v. Times match the Times secured a four-point win. Borough went cheaply for 19 in their first innings, Uic Times replying with 109. Borough compiled 82 in their second inning's (Davies 22, Livingstone 16, Gunn 14). Mason took two wickets l'or 9 runs, West six for 36. PLUNKET SHIELD MATCH. SELECTION OF UMPIRES. The Auckland Cricket Association received advice from the Otago Association yesterday that the latter body had selected Messrs R. E. Turton and J. 11. Harvey to act as umpires in the Plunket Shield match between Auckland and Otago commencing at Eden Park on Tuesday next.
