OLD BOYS’ CLUB. i ANNUAL MEETING. ARRANGEMENTS FOR SEASON. The annual general meeting of the Old Boys’ Swimming Club was held last night, Mr D’Auvergne presiding. There was a large and enthusiastic gathering, and the keenness of all the members promises to make the season a successful one for the club. The report and balance sheet, which showed a substantial credit, wore adopted. The following officers were elected: Patron, Dr. F. D. Pinfold; president, Mr E. Clayton-Greene; vice-presi-dents, Messrs L. Tompkins, S. V. Tyler, J. Baxter, W: Jordan; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. Boneham: delegates to South Auckland Association, secretary and Mr N. Ross; auditor, Mr T. Ewan; club captain, Mr C. Farquhar; vice-captain, Mr L. Denz; committee, secretary, captain, vicecaptain, president and Messrs Malins. and Bowling. The subscription was fixed at 2/6. and badges. 4s 6d; junior scubscriptions fixed "at 1/-. If was decided to leave the arranging of a joint carnival with the Ladies’ Club on January 29, in the hands of the committee. It was resolved to hire the Baths on "Wednesday nights from' January 8 for the club nights. It was left in the hands of the incoming committee to arrange, for Mr. Richardson to be the coach for the club for this season. A vote of thanks was passed to the past officers for their good work during the last season. The great success of the club’s “learn to swim” week during last season. when nearly two thousand children presented themselves tor instruction, was remarked upon. fit was left in the hands of the committee to arrange for a team from Auckland to be invited down for the carnival. The committee was instructed to negotiate with Bridson and another prominent Auckland swimmer to participate in the carnival. The meeting closed with votes of thanks to the chairman and the press.
THE OTAGO CENTRE. DIVER FOR AUSTRALIA. RECOGNITION OF RECORDS. (By Telegraph —Pres3 Association.) DUNEDIN, Thursday. The Otago Swimming Centre decided that the New Zealand Council be written to and asked to get in toucli with the Australian Swimming Association, with a view, to sending R. C. Calder, New Zealand’s champion diver, to Australia. It was decided to apply to the New Zealand Council for recognition as Dominion fresh-water records of the following times registered at the championships:—-Geddes, 75 yards breaststroke, junior boys, 59 4-ssec.; Geddes, 100 yards, junior boys, 65 4-osec.; Miss M. Mathieson, 75 yards breaststroke, intermediate girls, 65sec.
