TRUSTED OFFICIAL’S LAPSE. SENTENCE DEFERRED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Thursday. Allan George Wattam, storeman of the Auckland Harbour Board, was convicted on charges of stealing goods, including silk and whisky. The magistrate, Mr Hunt, deferred sentence, but refused bail, saying that prisoner was a trusted employee and had even been sworn in as a special constable.
