Spoon-fed immigration from Britain to Canada is spoiling the settlers and ruining Canada’s opportunity of attracting independent men who may come at their own expense, declared Colonel Malcolm Kincaid Smith, a former British M.P. During the past ten years, he said, a stream of manj' hundreds of immigrants of the finest material in the world had been flowing from Britain to the United States, and Canada made no effort to attract them. “Spoon-fed” immigration was hurting the prestige of the Dominion in Britain. He urged greater publicity of Empire opportunities In Britain.
