ROTO, MR J- G- Browne’s eh g, ■by Rotomanuka —Lance, limit .. 1 TE. NGUTU, Mr R. W- McHarrie’s b m, by Imperial Child—Unknown, aged, 60yds 2 BLACK MAGIC, Mr W- B. Pollard’s br St by Hova—Duchess, aged, limit 3 Also started—Alton Bell, Wild Downs, Motumaoho, limit; Wild Nut, 144yds bhd; Lackiewood, 192; Petei McKinney, 288. They went away to a good start but Te Ngutu broke early when moving up. Passing the stands she had made up her lost advantage and was the pilot closely attended by Black Magic and Alton Bell. There was little change in the order of the leaders along the back the. second time where Peter McKinney was making up a lot of ground. Coming into the straight Te Ngutu was in front attended by Black Magic with Roto moving up fast. In a good finish Roto won by half a length from Te Ngutu who was a similar distance in front of Black Magic.
