Interest has been'created In political circles (India) by tho appointment of Hon. Mr S. B. Tombe, the senior member of the Governor’s Executive Council, as acting-Governor of the Central provinces pending the resumption of the office by Sir Montague Butler. This is the first time since Lord Sinha’s appointment as Governor of Behar and Orissa in 1920 that an Indian has been jgiven a provincial honour by the King of his own choice. It Is likely that Mr Tombe will sub« sequently be knighted.
