PERSONAL.

The health of the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, was reported yesterday to have shown a considerable improvement. It is considered probable that lie will be able to resume his official duties early next week.

Mr. E. N. Torry, of England, is at the Hamilton Hotel.

Dr. Bertram, of Rotorua, was in Hamilton to-day.

Mr. George McMillan, of Auckland, was in Hamilton to-day.

Mr. George Paul, of Christchurch, llio well-known trotting handicapper, was in Hamilton to-day.

Mr. A. Sando, of Wellington, is in Hamilton. He will go South to-morrow morrow night.

Mr. J. 11. Robertson, Official Assignee of Hamilton, has received notice of bis promotion to a similar position at Christchurch.

Mr T. E. Hult, of the Hamilton chief post office staff, has been notified of his promotion to the position of relieving postmaster, Hamilton postal district.

Mr J. 11. Tait, a director of J. C. Williamson, Limited, who has been on a visit to New Zealand, left Auckland for Sydney by the Marama yesterday.

Mr W. Lee Martin, M.P., arrived in Hamilton this morning on the Limited, lie will return to Wellington on Sunday evening.

Viscount D’Abernon, head of the British economic mission which recently visited South America, arrived at Southampton on Thursday. He spoke very hopefully of the result of the mission.

Messrs H. A. Rouse, S. R. Thompson, F. C. Kelly, V. R. Winter, G. McMillan, A. Commons (Auckland), M. Tanner (New Plymouth), and W. Connolly (Wellington) are at the Hamilton Hotel.

It is stated in Australia that Mr Harry P. Muller, for several years representative for J. C. Williamson, Limited, in the United States, will return to take charge of the firm’s New Zealand activities as successor to the late Mr Bert Royle.
