TIRED FEET.
IMPORTANCE OF GOOD SHOES. It is impossible for any woman to be at her ease, to enjoy a good tramp in the country, a game of golf or tennis, to dance light-heartedly and to look pretty jf her feet are troubling her. Tired, aching, burning feet cause intense irritation and fatigue, and do much to cause wrinkles to appear on the face. There is, however, really no excuse why the feet should not be in perfect, condition. If one is troubled with corns and other defects, it is advisable to visit a good chiropodist and have them remedied, and then determine by daily care and attention to keep the feet in a fit, state. The first point to remember is that cheap shoes and ill-fitting stockings •are fatal to proper foot comfort. It is wise always to buy good shoes and if they are well treated, kept on trees when not in use, changed frequently and mended as soon as repairs are necessary, good shoes are really an economy, for they will last for years. Women whose feet are very sensitive should not wear shoes with heels that are either too high or too low and they should avoid very thin stockings. Stockings with cotton or lisle feet arc not suitable, and those lisle or silk stockings that have wool feet are the best choice. It is not. too much for the feet to have two baths a day, for scrupulous cleanliness is essential. Never wear the same pair °f_ stockings two days in succession. "When the feet are very tired, soak them in warm water to which a’liandful of salt has been added. When corns are painful, and in order ’to soften hard skin, give them a hot wafer and soda hath. Before undertaking a long walk, rub the soles of the feet with methylated spirits or eau de Cologne to harden them. Keep the . foe-nails trim, cutting them straight across, and 110 L rounding them as you do finger-nails.
