CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

MEETING AT MORRINSVILLE. The monthly meeting of the Mor- - rinsville Chamber of Commerce was held on Thursday evening. There was a good attendance. Mr E. McGregor presided. Mr F. Lye, M.P., wrote that he had interviewed the Minister of Justice in | reference to the appointment of a second policeman at Morrinsville. The inspector of Police had been asked for a report without delay. Mr J. Cameron, postmaster, wrote stating that arrangements had been made to forward a large portion of the letter mall to Morrinsville by the 11.30 p.m. train from Frankton each evening except Saturday. This would allow the postman to leave the office much earlier than at present. The question of a late fee posting box at Morrinsville is being considered by the postal authorities. Work for Unemployed. On the motion of Mr W. C. Cargill, seconded by Mr G. F. Oates, it was ' resolved to ask the Government that in order to relieve the unemployment position an immediate start be made in preparing the site for the new .Morrinsville railway station. A copy of the resolution is to be sent to Mr F. Lye, M.P., with a request to place it before the Minister of Railways. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr G. Pirrlt for the use of his property for a landing ground for the aeroplanes on Thursday and to Mr 11. G. Williams of Tauhei, formerly a major in the Air Force, for inspecting the area.
