A NOVEL CONFERENCE.

OVER LONG-DISTANCE PHONEMINISTER AND CITY LEADERS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. To mark the great advance which has been made in telephonic communication, it is the intention of the Postmaster-General, Hon. ,1. B. Donald to hold for the first time in New Zcaland,a long distance conference, whose members will exchange speeches over the long distance lines. The Minister will preside, and the mayors and presidents of the Chambers of Commerce of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin will “ attend the conference ” without leaving their respective towns. The conference indicates the great strides being made in connection with the art of communication. . The PostmasterGeneral will address the “gathering,” and short speeches will be exchanged. The Conference will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
