MATAMATA NEWS.

GIFT EVENING. Friends of Miss Molly Collins assembled in large numbers in the Kensington rooms on Monday evening, the occasion being a gift evening lo Miss Collins in view of her approaching marriage. The Monte Carlo waltz competition was won by Miss G. Geraghty and Mr J. A. Davies. During tlie supper adjournment Mr S. Sarah called upon Miss Collins to unwrap the many useful and ornamental presents, stating that she was one of the most popular girls in Matamata. Mr Hugh Wilkinson on' behalf of his fiancee, thanked those present for the nice array of presents and the kindly expressions of goodwill. Pennell's orchestra supplied the music for the dance.

Mrs Parkinson, of Auckland, is the guest of Mrs C. W. Turner. Miss Margaret Tidily is spending a holiday with Mrs T. 11. Prowse. Miss W. Banks, is visiting Mrs L. Williams, Remuera. Mrs J. F. Weils, Matamata, left for Auckland during the weekend. Miss Park is spending the vacation in Auckland. Mrs L. Flower has returned from a visit to Auckland. Miss M. Ewen is the guest of Mrs Gardner Brown, Matamata. Mrs W. S. Rulhe has returned from a holiday in Auckland. Miss Isobcl Stevenson is the guest of her sister, Mrs A. C. Hampton, Matamata.
