The Hon. E. W. Alison, who has been confined to his home at Takapuna for a fortnight, is recovering from his illness.
Sir Percy Loraine, who is to succeed Lord Lloyd as High Commissioner for Egypt, left London on Tuesday to take up his post.
Air S. S. Dean, chairman of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union, returned to Wellington by the Makura from Sydney.
It being necessary for the purpose of incorporation that the membership of the Hamilton Beautifying Society be at least lb, Mr. J. R. Fow and Dr. Beveridge were elected at the meeting of the society last evening to make up Hie requisite number.
Miss Margaret Bondfleld, British Minister of Labour, met with a painful accident at Trevarnon Bay, near Padstow, Cornwall. She was about to go for a bathe in the sea when she fell on some pebbles and broke one of her ankles.
Mr Myron L. Black, of Rochester (New York), has 'been appointed Assistant Trade Commissioner at Wellington (New Zealand). Mr Bjack was formerly connected with the New York office of the Commerce Department, Washington.
Mr R. Lindsay-Robb, E. 8.0., N.D.A., N.D.D., chief advisor to and Grassland Officer of Chemical Industries, in company with Mr Hudson, New Zealand Departmental Experimentalist, and Messrs C. E. Cuming, P. 11. Smallfleld and W. J. Woodcock, paid a visit of inspection to the Ruakura Farm of Instruction this morning, and were shown around the farm, by the manager, Mr 11. Munro.
