THOSE GUNS.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Were the spirit animating the writers of some of the letters, on the question of the Memorial Park guns to become general, I am convinced that the need for such weapons of destruction would again become manifest. One does not like to think that there is a disposition to rejoice over our enemies and gloat at our own prowess. It is largely that spirit which caused the great upheaval in 1914. Surely it behoves us to allay it to the utmost of our power, and for a beginning let us cultivate good-fellowship between ourselves. It is hardly in keeping with pious declarations to. express a wish to heave me into the depths of the river because I had the temerity to express the conviction that such was the best place for the guns—l am, etc., BYGONE.
