FAREWELL FUNCTION.
MRS J. ALLEN HONOURED. TRIBUTES AT MORRINSVILLE. At the invitation of Mrs Frank Marshall, a large number of Morrinsville ladies met to bid farewell to Mrs J. G. Allen, who is shortly leaving, with her youngest son, on a visit to England. On her arrival Mrs Allen was presented with a handsome bouquet by litlte Miss Kathleen Wyatt, and was heartily welcomed by her many old friends. During the afternoon a dainty afternoon tea was served and a very enjoyable time was spent in social intercourse.
Mrs F. Marshall, on behalf of all present, expresed their regret at losing Mrs Allen, and hoped that it would not be long before they had the pleasure of welcoming her back. For many years Mrs Allen, in her kindly, unostentatious manner, had done a great deal for Morrinsville. She had given her time and valuable support to the church, the Girl Guides, and any movement for the benefit of the young people of the district. She would be greatly missed and they wished her bon voyage and a speedy return. Mr Allen suitably replied. The following were among the ladies present:—Mesdames Allen, Wilkes, Larner, Ellis, J. 11.
