THE CRUISER EMDEN.
MEN VISIT ROTORUA. LEAVE AUCKLAND ON THURSDAY. AUCKLAND, Tuesday.' The party of officers from the German cruiser Emden, headed by Captain von Arnauld, which visited Rotorua during the week-end, returned last evening after a trip covering all the places of interest in the district. The Maori and European population combined to make the stay of the visitors as enjoyable as possible. Two presentations were made to Captain von Arnauld, one of a very fine old carved paddle, the other a casket of carved wood.
This morning a small party of officers will make a two-days’ visit to the Waitomo Caves.
The official functions in connection with the visit will be brought to a close on Thursday evening, when Captain von Arnauld will give a reception on board the Emden.
Provisional arrangements are that the cruiser will sail for Wellington after the reception on Thursday.
