Mr H. Marsland, Raglan County Clerk, is reported to be progressing very favourably after his recent operation.
Air. H. H. Sterling, General Manager of Railways, who has been attending railways’ conferences in Australia, is due back in the Dominion to-day.
Mr R. Watson, S.M., of Feilding, is to relieve an the Wellington Magisterial Bench. Mr T. E. Maunsell, S.M., has returned to Nelson.
Mr S. G. G. Lye, Managing Director of the Waikato and Thames Valley Co-' operative Calf By-Product Co. Ltd., left Hamilton to-day to visit the Hauraki Plains district.
Mr. C. P. Scott, the veteran editor of the Manchester Guardian, has, says a London cable, resigned after occupying the position for 57 years. His son, Mr. E. T. Scott, succeeds him.
Messrs N. Masters (Auckland), J. Thompson, R. E. Alexander (Wellington), L. J. Jones (Lepperton), B. Evans (Rotorua), W. Major (Eastbeach), 11. D. A. Major (Oxford) and W. Trewley (New Plymouth) are at the Hamilton Hotel.
Messrs Eric Edgley and Clem Dawe, formerly heads of the Midnight Frolics, passed through Auckland this week on the Makura, on their way to the United States and Britain.
Archdeacon A. M. Johnson, who recently resigned his position as vicar of St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, Wellington, has been appointed editor of the “Church Chronicle,” the official organ of the diocese of Wellington.
Mr. G. H. York, who has been on the.staff of the Taupiri Post Office for over four years, has been transferred to Morrinsville. Mr. A. Hart, his successor, has arrived from Blackball and taken up his duties.
Mr. T. R. McCarthy, formerly manager of the Taupiri Dairy Company’s factory, has been appointed manager of the Kaitaia Dairy Company's factory, and left this week for the North.
Mr W. Gardner, of Hamilton, who arrived by the Ruahine, is remaining in London for the present, writes a London correspondent. When his sisters arrive by the Rangitiki, they intend to make a tour of the Continent.
The Rev. R. B. Davison, who will succeed the Rev. Noel Robertshawc- as vicar of Thames, arrived at Auckland from Australia by the Makura yesterday. He was formerly rector of Mayheld, Newcastle.
The Prime Minister, Mr MacDonald, will attend the Assembly of the League of Nations at Geneva in September, with the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr Arthur Henderson, who will be present at the meetings of the Council and Assembly.
Lord Irwin, Viceroy of India, and Lady Irwin, left Bombay for England yesterday. Viscount Goschen, Governor of Madras, had previously been installed as Viceroy and Acting-Governor-General to serve in the absence of Lord Irwin.
Mr Kenneth Impett, formerly of Auckland, has returned to London after a holiday visit to New Zealand, Australia and the United States, writes a London correspondent. Afler a few weeks he will go to Ituny '-o complete his musical studies. Mr . Impett intends to reside permanently ;-n Europe.
Mr F. Dunn, of the staff of the Napier Post Office, who has been transferred to Hamilton, was met by his fellow employees and presented with a set of military hair brushes and a cigarette case. The presentation was made by Mr Anton in the absence of the chief postmaster, the speaker referring to the high esteem in which Mr Dunn was held- Mr Dunn suitably responded*
