THE TALKING FILM.
AID TO BURGERY. REMARKABLE DEMONSTRATION. EXPERT IMPRESSED. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.); (Australian Press Association.) (Received June 29, 9.30 a.rh.) LONDON, June 28. The first talking film detailing a surgical operation was successfully shown before an audience of doctors. The demonstrator was Sir John Walker. “Close-up" pictures showed the hands traversing all motions, cutting, stitching and knotting, the voice explaining each stage of the operation. The film was produced as an experiment to see whether it was possible to thus teach students the technique of operative surgery. Sir John Walker said afterwards that he felt sure the talking films would greatly supplement existing teaching in hospitals and universities. i J
