AUSTRALIAN COAL.
INSPECTION OF BOOKS. ROYAL COMMISSION'S DECISION RESENTED BY THE MINERS. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, June 28. 1 Because of the decision of the Royal l Commission to investigate the books' of the coal proprietors in camea, there is a possibility that the miners will withdraw their representatives from the coal inquiry. The miners’ lodges will meet on Sunday, when the position will be discussed, and probably, a decision will be reached early next week at a meeting of the full State Council of the Miners' Federation. The conference of the union has written to the Acting-Premier withdrawing its undertaking given on June 12 to abide by the findings of the Royal Commission, owing to its refusal to allow an open investigation of the coalowners’ profits. The miners’ representatives have done likewise. The enginedrivers’ executive describes the Commission’s proceedings as farcical, and a general strike will be considered early In the week.
