INTENTION TO ABOLISH IT. AWARDS FLAGRANTLY FLOUTED DEPRESSION IN AUSTRALIA. (By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright.) (Australian press Association.) (Received June 25, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, June 25.
The Minister of Trade and Customs, Mr Gutlett, made a statement that the Federal Government would stand or fall by Its decision to abolish the Arbitration Court, whose awards were flagrantly flouted by sections of the community. He added: “We must have a great efficiency drive from top to bottom to escape one of the worst depressions Australia has known. I would like to see the return of forty-eight hours weekly and the establishment of piecework.”
