PERSONALS. Mrs Greenfield is visiting Christchurch. Mrs E. Norman left last week on an extended visit to England. Miss Focke has returned from a visit to Auckland. Mrs D. Williams is visiting Auckland. Mrs R. Lord is spending the weekend in Auckland. . Miss Rockett has returned from a visit to her mother in Parnell, Auckland. BRIDGE PARTIES.

A very pleasant time was spent on Monday afternoon, when Mrs C. Blundell gave a bridge party at her residence, Alexandra Street.

Mrs Blundell received her guests wearing a dainty frock of heige georgette and lace with satin sash to tone. Tile prize-winners were: Top score, Mrs J. A. Hawkins; hidden number, Miss G. Wyatt and consolation prize, Mrs I. F. McDonald. A dainty afternoon tea was served in the breakfast room.

Among those present were Mrs J. O’Sullivan, Mrs C. G. Downes, Miss Focke, Mrs Teasdale, Mrs L. S. Chamberlain, Mrs L. Peake, Mrs Loughnan, Mrs J. Ashmore, Miss Empson, Mrs C. Storey, Mrs J. Oliphant, Miss G. Wyatt (Hamilton), Mrs ,T. A. Hawkins, Mrs A. A. Reese, Mrs A. Whyte, Mrs Otway, Mrs A. J. McGovern, Mrs W. Jeffery, Mrs J. W. McCarroll, Mrs R. .Tones; Mrs Skerman, Mrs F. Quin, Mrs I. F. McDonald (Gisborne), Mrs A. Rond and Mrs S. S. Preston.

On Monday evening Mrs C. Blundell gave a handkerchief evening for Miss Mabel Jones, who is to be married shortly. Mrs Blundell received her guests wearing a pretty frook of blue floral taffeta with bridge coat of blue embossed georgette. Miss Mabel Jones wore a frock of blue satin with pink shawl. Business bridge was played. The winners being Miss M. Jones and Miss L. Bray and Mr R. Lockyer and Mr IT. Armstrong, top score; Mrs L. S. Chamberlain and Miss Empson and Dr. Blundell and Mr D. Wallace second highest score; Miss W. Wallace and Miss E. Jones and Mr E. Bent and Mr N. Cairns the consolation prize. A dainty supper was served in the breakfast room which was tastefully decorated in autumn tints. Amongst those present were: Mrs R. Jones, Mrs L. S. Chamberlain, Mrs W. McKenzie, Miss K. Wallace, Miss M. Kay, Miss M. Jones, Miss L. Bray, Miss H. Civil, Miss M. Storey, Miss M. Quin, Miss K. McGovern, Miss S. Empson, Miss B. Monteflore, Miss W. Wallace, Miss E. Jones, Miss E. Bowden, Miss G. Irwin, Miss A. Houston, Miss E. Peake. Messrs G. A. Empson, E. Storey, H. Jefferies, R. Lockyer, H. Armstrong, F. Macklow, M. Otway, B. Hague, K. Smith, D. Wallace, D. Storey, N.
