Meeting of Parishioners. The Paterangi parishioners of St. John’s Anglican church held their annual meeting this week. Rev. Hailey Trill presided over a fair attendance, including Rev. E. Atkey, and several members of the vestry. Mr C. Graham presented the annual report, which showed an increase in number of services and attendances. The balance sheet was read and adopted, and finances were shown to be in a satisfactory position. The election of offices took place, and Mr Graham was re-elected vicar’s warden and received a vote of thanks for his services. Rev. Trill expressed regret at the pending departure of Mrs Bell and family, who had always been enthusiastic members. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Bell for her interest in the building fund, of which she is trustee, and to Rev. Atkey for the beautiful brass plate which he had made and presented to the church. Votes of thanks were passed to the vicar and curate for their kindly and sympathetic interest and for the excellent work done in the district. Sickness. With the advent of winter colds of the influenza type are prevalent in this district. Personal. Mr W. Germann, who has successfully farmed a large area of land in this district, recently subdivided his farm and sold the homestead portion of it to Messrs Karl Bros. Mrs Kirkham, of Auckland, and Mrs A. Shollum, of Gisborne, 1 are visiting Mrs J. Karl, of Paterangi. Miss H. Garratt and Miss A. Macky are spending the school vacation in Auckland. The headmaster, Mr Benton, is recuperating at Rotorua, where he is making satisfactory progress. Miss L. Karl is spending a holiday in Rotorua. Mr and Mrs C. Graham and family left this week on a motor tour of Auckland and the North. Miss S. Scott, of Auckland, and Miss Hiley, of Wellington, are the guests of Mrs W. G. Macky.
