Sunday School Afternoon. A children’s afternoon was held in the Te Poi Memorial Hall, in lieu of a Sunday school picnic. Mrs Priestly, who conducts the Sunday School, has been in bad health lately, and did not feel able to undertake the organisation of a picnic this year, so the following ladies formed a committee and carried out their duties successfully:— Mesdames Goodwin (chairwoman), Whytcross (secretary), Nelmes, Harray, Ronaldson, Hitchcock and Barford. • The following children won the competitions: —Skittles (over 10): A Bellamy 1, R. Thomas 2, G. Goodwin 3; under 10:.J. Ronaldson 1, T. Hampton 2, L. Saunders 3; ringalette: B Ronaldson 1, V. Bellamy 2, V. Nelmes 3; bobs: A. Thomas 1, E. Harray 2, V. Bellamy 3; skipping: V. Bellamy 1, V. Nelrhes 2, S. McCardle 3: tailing the pig: K. Mudford 1, L. Fulton 2, N. Hampton 3; ringalette (men): J. Woolnough 1, J. Goodwin 2. All the children got prizes for knocking down “Aunt Sally.” The Rev. Hampton presented prizes for points and attendance to the Sunday School scholars, and at the close Miss Betty Ronaldson presented Mrs Priestly with a breakfast cruet on behalf of the Sunday School children, in recognition of the good work she has done. j Afternoon tea was served
