CIVIL WAR IN MEXICO.
SUCCESS OF THE REBELS. LARGE BODIES OF TROOPS MOVING FIGHTING IN MANY QUARTERS. (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) (Australian Press Association.) (Received March 7, 10.30 a.m.) NEW YORK, March 6. Extensive military action marked the Mexican situation to-day. The Government and the rebels are beginning movements in the north and south, and there is heavy lighting in prospect. The Government is marching troops in live directions for the purpose of recapturing Monterey, being content to bottle up Vera Cruz. The rebels appear to have scored successes in the North, but the battle lines are being drawn to two points near the United Stales border. Reports favourable to the rebels are being received of lighting in the State of Mazatian, Sinaloa, Torruon, Coahuila, and Cananea. MEXICO CITY, March 6. It is estimated that 10,000 of the 60,000 men in the Mexican Army have gone over to the rebels. WASHINGTON, March 6. The United States Consul, (Mr Willys Myers) at Vera Cruz, reported today that the third battalion of the revolutionary garrison has mutinied and is occupying half the city. MONTEREY RECAPTURED.
