BANKRUPTCY RETURNS.

HAMILTON DISTRICT. THREE LAST MONTH. There are usually few bankruptcies in the first month of the year, and last month was no exception, three persons filing a petition, compared with Lwo last year. The occupations of last month’s bankrupts were:—Licensed native interpreter, engineer and sharemilker. The total amounts of assets and liabilities respectively of bankrupts last month were, the figures for January 1928, being in parentheses: —■ 11295 (£72); £833 (£1374).
