PERSONAL.

The Governor-General Sir Charles Fergusson, accompanied by Lady Alice Fergusson, visited a number of factories in Dunedin yesterday morning. Mr. W. J. Jull, of Claudelands, has returned from a trip to Motueka. Messrs. Stanton (Auckland) and T. G. Russell (Christchurch) are at the Hamilton Hotel. Mr. W. G. Coote, manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Whangarci, is in Hamilton. Among the guests at the Commercial Hotel arc Messrs. H. J. Wing and N. Walmsley (Wellington), C. Everard (Palmerston North) and D. G. Gallahcr (Auckland). The Hon. Sir Maui Pomare under•went a slight operation in a private hospital at Wellington on Wednesday. 11c is reported to be making satisfactory progress. The Rev. Father T. Gilbert has been appointed rector of St. Bede’s College, Christchurch, in place of the. Rev. Dr. Geaney, who has been transferred to the Marist seminary at Greenmeadows.
