THE TOWN BEAUTIFUL,

EX-PRESS MAN’S VISIT. BOWLING GREENS LAUDED. “I have heard so much about your town that when I arrived I thought I would be disappointed,” remarked .Mr F. J. Board, ol Nelson, to a Waikato Times reporter this morning. “Instead I am agreeably surprised.” Mr Board, who was for 45 years a member of the staff of the Chrislchurch Press, and is now retired, lias been paying a flying visit to the Waikato and will return south to-day. After referring to the beauty of the river, which he believed was Hamilton’s best afcset, Mr Board spoke in terms of high regard of the Hamilton Bowling Club's greens, which lie had the pleasure of playing on last Saturday. “It is almost sacrilegious to walk on such a perfect sward. 1 can say without hesitation that 1 have never played on a better green. Another thing that impressed -me was the extraordinary superiority of your Waikato beef. The animals, which we noticed on the pastures, arc splendid types and the meat itself is without parallel.”

Mr Board said the town was an eloquent testimony of the first-class country surrounding it and his only regret was his inability to spend a -longer time in the district. Arapuni was a magnificent engineering feat, he added which put all big contracts in the South Island well in the shade. He mentioned that all the engineers and many of the workers at the powerhouse site held no misgivings for the safety of the structure, and treated any references to instability with amusemcjak.
