CENTRAL POWER BOARD.
TO-DAY’S MEETING. ELECTRICITY FOR PUKEMIRO. The Central Electric Power Board met to-day, the chairman, Mr T- Hinton, presiding. Also present were Messrs W. Lee Martin, M.P., W. Boyd, S. Saulbrcy, G. 11. Boyd, E. F. Peacocke, J. J. Ryburn, A. Livingstone, J. R. Ellis (engineer) and 11. J. Beeche (secretary). The engineer reported having received 66 applications from the residents of Pukemiro township with more to follow applying for electricity. As soon as all residents have signed steps will be taken to extend the board’s lines to Pukemiro. It was decided to place £ls at the disposal of the staff employees as a contribution towards the expenses of the annual picnic. Engineer’s ReportReporting on the month’s work the engineer said owing to the holidays little had been done for a fortnight. The extension of approximately half a mile of 3000 volt line at Te Kowhai had been carried out and low tension lines had been extended at Te Rapa, Orini, Horsham Downs, Karamu and Iluntly. Two additional street lights had been erected at the request of the Waipa County Council, one at Ohaupo Road, near the hospital, and one at Te Rapa. During the month 72 poles had been erected and 718 chains of wire run.
The total number of consumers is now 3283. Statistics of consumers arc as follows:—Lighting, 3011; heating, 1209; milking motors, 827; separator motors, 13; non-milking motors, 179; water pumps, 291; water heaters, 813; electric ranges, 170. The report was adopted.
