“DOLE A CURSE.”

A.M.P. MAN’S VIEW. SCARES CAPITAL. That the introduction of the dole system as a solution to England’s unemployment question is a curse, is the opinion of Mr W. H. Derry, manager of the Australian Mutual Provident Society in West Australia, who returned from a world tour by way of New Zealand by the Marama. England was faced with a very serious position as a result of the increasing ranks of unemployment, said Mr Derry, and the problem had not been helped by the introduction of the dole.

lie and Mrs Derry were in England when the King first became seriously ill, and both were impressed with the fervent display of loyalty and concern at His Majesty’s indisposition. At the same time Mr Derry had heard that the “Red” influence and numerous strikes in Australia had resulted in big capitalists withdrawing their investments from concerns in this country.
